Tokyo’s sumo experience puts you close to the action without requiring a tournament ticket or a visit to a training stable. Former professional wrestlers explain the rules, perform a demonstration in the dohyo, and then invite you to try the sport in a padded sumo costume. I like the mix of clear English explanation and…
The main draw is the pairing of Jigokudani’s snow monkeys with Zenkoji Temple, two very different sides of Nagano in one long day. You can watch monkeys gather around hot springs, then walk through one of Japan’s most important Buddhist temple grounds. I like the door-to-door private service, especially for families or groups of four…
Watching a sumo wrestler train from only a few feet away gives you a far better sense of the sport than a seat in a tournament stadium. You see the repeated footwork, stretching, balance drills, and bursts of force without the noise and ceremony of a public match. I like the close-up view of genuine…
The best thing about this private Mt. Fuji day trip is control. You are not tied to a large bus group or a fixed pace. Your driver collects you at your Tokyo hotel, then helps shape a long day around Fuji viewpoints, shrines, lakes, and photo stops. Guides such as Malik, Ali, Lax, Mozi, Sam,…
Tokyo: Sushi Cooking Class with Sake Tasting The best part of this four-hour Tokyo experience happens before the knives come out. You shop with a local guide in a Japanese supermarket, learning how to choose fish, vegetables, seasonings, and other everyday ingredients. Then you take those ingredients to a professional kitchen and turn them into…
Making a character bento turns lunch into edible craftwork. In this two-hour class near Tokyo, you shape rice, decorate faces, arrange side dishes, and learn why bento matters in Japanese daily life. No cooking background is needed, and instructors such as Kenji guide each step. I like the huge range of tools that makes the…
Tokyo nightlife gets going early at WARP SHINJUKU, where doors open at 9 p.m. in the middle of Kabukicho. You can choose a low-cost admission plan with two drinks, an all-you-can-drink option, or a more theatrical VIP package built around a Japanese Kagami-biraki ceremony. I like the club’s strong visual production, with big sound, lights,…
Tokyo sightseeing usually means trains, pavements, and crowded observation decks. Shibuya Kart puts you on the road, driving a small kart through Roppongi, Omotesando, Shibuya, and past Tokyo Tower before returning to the Togoshi shop. It is part city tour, part costume photo session, and part shared joke with everyone watching from the pavement. I…
Tokyo is at its best when you move beyond the postcard stops, and this private tour tries to do exactly that. In one day, you can connect Meiji Shrine, Shibuya Crossing, Sensō-ji Temple, Yanaka, and Nakano Broadway while asking your guide to adjust the route to your interests. I like the private format and the…
Tokyo changes character after dark, and this four-hour walk takes you from the giant screens of Shibuya Crossing to the tiny bars of Golden Gai. I like the small-group limit of six, which gives guides such as Sam and Aissam room to adjust the route, answer questions, and help you navigate Tokyo’s crowded streets. I…
Neighbourhood walks, counter seats, sumo mornings and day trips to the mountains.
