Tokyo Tower, a city symbol

Tokyo Tower is a communications and observation tower located in Shiba Park in Tokyo.

With 332.5 metres (1091 ft), it is the second tallest artificial structure in Japan.

The structure is an Eiffel Tower-inspired lattice tower that is painted white and international orange to comply with air safety regulations.

From Roppongi you can see in the distance this tower as the picture below.

At first sight because of the skyscrapers near the tower, it seems to be lower to her Paris sister, but it is not : in fact, the Tokyo Tower is a few meters higher than the Eiffel Tower in Paris, depending on where you are measuring is high by approximately 9 meters more.

It was built to serve as a repeater for radio and television, but because of the continued high buildings constructions that have been made in Tokyo in recent years, such as close to Roppongi Hills, the capacity of this tower has been increased : in 2012 they will inaugurate the Tokyo Sky Tree, a tower of the total height of 610 meters (2001 feet) that will provide the public with two structures respectively at 350 and 450 meters where to shop and relax in cafes and restaurants.

To get to Tokyo Tower, the best thing is to get to the station Kamiyacho with the Tokyo Metro and follow the signs. Or from Roppongi or nearby, just look at the location of the tower and go in that direction as can be seen even from far enough.

To see the view up from Tokyo Tower, you have to keep in mind that opening and closing hours are different in the months of the year, so I suggest you to visit the official website of the Tokyo Tower.

The cost to get on the first floor of the Tokyo Tower is 820Yen, while if you want to go to the top floor you will have to pay 1420Yen.

At the base of the tower there are four floors : nice things to report on the first floor there is an aquarium (see the Official Website here).

At the second floor you can find souvernir shops, a bar, an ice cream shop, a restaurant and an area in which you can eat  several occidental dishes like pizza or even Mc Donald’s.

Climbing to the third floor there is the Guinness Book of World Records Museum and a small wax museum, with an interesting section with 3D holograms that reproduce some celebrities.

The fourth floor is a section with some statistics and a small games room.

Taking the elevator and going up to the first part of the tower, which is 150 meters above the ground, there is the 333 Club, where you can listen live music and the Café La Tour.

You can even find a window on the floor to experience the thrill of walking on a glass looking at the area below.

At the second part of the tower, at 250 meters above the ground there is a panel with a photo showing the names of the buildings you see in the distance, a shop called Good Souvernir Shop and a small temple, as well as the entry for the special observatory which is located at the very top of the tower, where there are no shops and the only thing you can do is look down at the city.
