The Best Places to Photograph Tokyo

Tokyo has so many amazing places where you can use your camera, that is impossible to enumerate all the spots (also because every little corner of Tokyo is worth a shoot!).

I just try to make a simple list here, where you can take beautiful pictures and enjoy the wonderful views.

1. The crossing of Shibuya

The infamous Shibuya Crossing is the busiest pedestrian crossing in the world. Its lights and billboards are breathtaking, and it is also perfect for those who want to do simple video time lapse.

2. Harajuku / Yoyogi Park

Near Harajuku and Yoyogi Park are popular places for many youth subcultures in Tokyo. It’s a great place to get shots of Japanese street fashion, especially on Sundays.

3. Shinjuku

Shinjuku is a district that would be a huge metropolis in itself even without the rest of Tokyo. It ‘an urban area to be explored to the fullest.

Unique notice: the people in the Kabukicho area often do not like to be photographed. It’s easy to meet members of the Yakuza, so stay tuned on where and who photographed.

4. Ginza

Ginza district is the number one luxury shopping. It has interesting architectural features.

5. Omotesando

Omotesando is another luxury shopping district, which is also full of interesting architecture and fashion aficionados.

6. Odaiba

Odaiba is a good place to take great pictures of Tokyo Bay and its skyline, thanks to the Rainbow Bridge and Tokyo Tower that you can easily see there.

7. Aoyama Cemetery

The Aoyama Cemetery is the oldest cemetery in Tokyo. The photos are interesting thanks to the contrast of the natural landscape of the cemetery and sacred as opposed to the massive construction of Roppongi that stand out against the background.

8. Tokyo Sky Tree

The Tokyo Sky Tree is the second tallest structure in the world. Needless to say, it is the structure that offers the best view of Tokyo from the top.

9. Hamarikyu Gardens

The Hamarikyu is a large Japanese garden of the Edo period, located next to Shiodome (one of the largest business districts of Tokyo). It’s a popular place among the local photographers.

10. Yurakucho

Yurakucho is an old part of Tokyo, which has not changed much in the last 70 years. Discover the small Izakaya under the railroad tracks and its nightlife is a must.
