Packed with bars and restaurants, Roppongi is characterized by a crackling intense nightlife.

Roppongi is famous as one of the foremost entertainment districts in Tokyo. After the 1970, many discos, bars, and nightclubs were built and this district gained a very youthful and international aura. The fame of this Tokyo nightlife spot is known worldwide with many shops open until early morning.

In recent years, development has been carried out, creating a high-rise building area with popular structures as Roppongi Hills, Tokyo Midtown and Izumi Garden,  a lot of commercial facilities and luxury condominium.

Roppongi is becoming Tokyo’s new luxury spot.

Roppongi Hills

The construction of this vast urban area, designed by tycoon Minoru Mori, lasted over 17 years.

The objective behind the project was to improve the quality of life of citizens by the concentration of housing, services and entertainment in a sort of microcosm within the city.

Every weekend there are concentrated at least a million visitors, a figure which, together with grandiosity of the project, is a clear sign of success.

The complex, which includes shops, restaurants, nightlife and entertainment is enhanced by public art and a japanese garden, the Mouri Garden, which dimensions are such as to justify the guided tours.

Mori Tower

It ‘s a 54 floors building that towers over the complex of Roppongi Hills.

Inside there are various offices of major companies including Ferrari, TV Asahi, Yahoo, the Grand Hyatt and others.

The first six floors contain restaurants and shops while in the last six floors is the Mori Art Museum, a museum that displays primarily modern and contemporary art.

There is an area called Tokyo City View, where you can enjoy the view, the cost is 1500Yen to arrive trough the elevator, you can not go walking the stairs.

The Tokyo City View is open daily from 10 to 23, up to 1 am Friday and Saturday. The view is magnificent and the ascent in the lift is especially exciting for the modernity of the structure.

Roppongi Crossing

A few steps from Roppongi Hills is one of the most characteristic intersections in Tokyo, with roads and railways on several levels and many intersections. It’s nothing special, it is simply a cross, but as is often mentioned in guidebooks, manga and anime, is worthy of note.

Tokyo Tower

From Roppongi you can see the Tokyo Tower, the replica of the famous Eiffel Tower in Paris, which serves as a repeater for the radio and TV Tokyo.

Tokyo Sports Cafe

On the main street in Roppongi, taking Tokyo Tower on the left looking into the distance, stands the Tokyo Sports Cafe, a bar for sports fans where in addition to follow sports on TV, you can drink with friends surrounded by gadgets of the most famous sports celebrity Japanese and beyond.

Toho Cinemas Roppongi Hills

Virgin’s nine-screen multiplex has the biggest screen in Japan, as well as luxurious reclining seats and internet booking up to two days in advance for reserved seats. This state-of-the-art theatre also holds all-night screenings on nights before holidays.
